There are four classes of fires. Below are listed the
different classes of fuels for fires and types of extinguishers to be used
on the fires.
Class A – Ordinary Combustibles (wood, paper,
rubber, plastics)

When you see this symbol and color on the fire
extinguisher it is for Class A fire.
Class B – Flammable and Combustible Liquids
(liquids, greases, gases)
When you see this symbol and color on the fire
extinguisher it is for Class B fire.
Class C – Electrical Equipment (live electrical
equipment

When you see this symbol and color on the fire
extinguisher it is for Class C fires.
Class D – Combustible Metals (Aluminum,
Magnesium, Titanium, Zirconium, Sodium,
Potassium, Lithium, Calcium, Zinc)

When you see this symbol and color on the fire
extinguisher it is for Class D fires.
