Latino Outreach
Welcome to the Columbus Division of Fire's newest
component to the Community Relations Office. The Division is
committed to providing the message of fire safety/prevention
to all the citizens of Columbus. We are now able to deliver
the prevention message in Spanish. FF J.
Sierra, who is of Mexican descent, has been presenting these
life saving measures for 2 years. As the community continues
to grow we need to make sure all citizens receive the
message of prevention. The following modules are included in
the Latino Outreach program:
- Basic fire safety/prevention for preschoolers (ages
3-5), elementary (ages 6-10) and adults
- Tutor 8th grade Spanish speaking students
- Juvenile Fire Setters (Spanish speaking youth)
- Fire safety/prevention presentation to businesses
that have a significant Spanish speaking labor force
- Basic Spanish for Division personnel (EMS/Fire) on a
volunteer basis
